Quantum field theory (QED, QCD) is tremendously successful, and the quantum Standard Model is firmly established with the gauge bosons for electromagnetism (photon), strong force (gluons) and weak force (W, Z bosons) well described. Although there are practical difficulties with detecting the hypothetical gauge boson for gravity (the graviton), if we assume it exists, are the atoms in my body swapping gravitons with planet Earth? Or only with the sofa I’m sitting on?
