How do i unBLOCK my iphone 3gs?

hi, i have an iphone 3gs which i got as part of a swap but it now has no signal, im asuming it has been blocked but am not 100% sure is there any way of finding out if it has been blocked or can i get it unblocked (UK ONLY PLEASE). any help would be great. cheers matt
