What do you think about the name vladimir?

My husband and I are expecting a boy soon. We've chosen a bunch that we like, but the name Vladimir always sticks out for us. My mother hates it because she thinks that its morbid and that it reminds her of vlad the impaler. What do you think of this name? We really like it because its unique, but not to over the top.
